Downtown Las Vegas
Downtown is the "other" Las Vegas. It's actually the place Las Vegas officially became a city just over 100 years ago. Famous hotel names such as the Golden Nugget and Four Queens and the Horseshoe are all located downtown. Downtown is for locals and old time gamblers who are more interested in the odds of the games rather than in the names of the "celebrities" at the latest Strip nightclub. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
After a 100 years of barely controlled building and expansion, it's time for the city to return to its roots. Mayor Oscar Goodman and the city council have worked hard to revitalize and rebuild the downtown area. I've lived in Vegas for almost 25 years and I've heard all this talk before, but now I'm sold. They finally have some plans, building, and momentum going on. I'm so excited in fact, that I purchased a downtown condo. Consequently, I've spent some time researching the development plans and keeping up with the new buildings. I decided to compile some of that information here in the hope that if you are interested in the downtown redevelopment, you might more easily find it.
